Three Rivers League Banked Slalom/Boardercross – January 31, 2016

The 3 Rivers Snowboarding League is well into their 2015-2016 season Sunday January 31stwas the 2nd of the leagues banked slalom/boarder X event. Mt Hood Meadows provided a great course and staff to support these 70+ kids fly down the mountain. I am sure riders and parents wished they had put on more sunscreen because it was a bright and sunny day. Riders from schools including Canby, Oregon City, Lakeridge, West Linn, Wilsonville, Centennial and Lake Oswego all provided their most daring and competitive efforts as they raced individually for the best time through the flags and over the finish line. These kids are strong-willed and determined for representing their school in the snowboard spirit. Once it was determined which riders would qualify for the boarder X, brackets were created and rider heats took to the gate. If you thought racing down fast was hard, try racing down fast with your competition or sometimes your best friend. Shoulder to shoulder the heats mash down the hill for either a 1st or 2ndplace to advance them toward the boarder X main event. They jump, some crash but they all come away with smiles because today the sun shined bright and we are deep into an exciting season. Congrats not only to first place girl Breck Bienshline and boy Quinton Paul both from West Linn but all of our competitors who put forth their best efforts to entertain a large crowd of parents.
